Aarushi Handoo

Aarushi has been participating in both public speaking and debating since year 6. She immediately fell in love with the activity and as a result continued debating throughout all of high school.

Being able to gain confidence from public speaking and debating led Aarushi to hold a number of leadership roles throughout high school. She was the social justice prefect and on the student representative council where she had to make multiple speeches to large audiences. In addition, Aarushi also adjudicated a number of debates for the younger year groups at her school demonstrating her commitment to helping improve younger speakers.

Aarushi is currently studying a Bachelor of Science majoring in Computer Science and Economics at the University of Sydney whilst also working as a debating Coach at Monte Sant Angelo Mercy College. Through this role Aarushi learnt a number of important skills when dealing with children that she applied to her own classes at SSA!

Outside of public speaking and debating Aarushi has also played netball and tennis for a number of years. Here she received a blue award for excellence in recognition of her achievements.

Aarushi is an asset to the SSA team with her warm and welcoming energy that she brings into every class making her a favourite with younger speakers.
