James is a bright and engaging coach whose enthusiasm is infectious to students. From a young age, James showed a passion for debating and public speaking, participating in numerous competitions including UN Youth Voice Speaking Competition and UN Youth Model United Nations. James is also an accomplished debater, having represented his school, The Illawarra Grammar School, in HICES Debating from year 7 – 12, reaching the semi-finals twice. His enjoyment of public speaking and debating in high school is what motivates James to make a fun classroom environment where students can thrive.
After school James completed a Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Sydney. Whilst studying James began working for Speaking Schools Australasia, where he discovered a talent and passion for teaching that inspired him to begin a Masters of Teaching at the University of Technology Sydney. James enjoys coaching because he is excited to see students improve and loves to see the pride that students feel when they deliver a good speech. He was a debating coach at The Illawarra Grammar School and Meridan Anglican School for Girls, and ran Running Business Studies and VET Entertainment seminars in the Illawarra. James was also heavily involved in the UTS debating society, before settling into his roles as a teacher at The Scots College.
