Hi! My name is Shauneen, I have a Joint Bachelor’s Degree in English and Drama and a Post Graduate Certificate of Education in English, Drama and Media Studies.

I have always been involved in public speaking from when I was a child, competing in competitions which were not always limited to public speaking but extended to poetry, and drama also.

What experience do you have working with children?

I have been a secondary level English and Drama teacher now for 4 years and it is my lifelong passion, I’ve never worked a day in my life because I love what I do. I have been able to set up and coach children with public speaking and speech and drama now for two years within the schools I teach and now working with Speaking Schools Australasia I fortunately get an opportunity to continue that passion outside of the classroom.

What is your favourite thing about working with children?

My favourite thing about working with children is how imaginative and totally unpredictable they are. Working with children everyday means that your working day is always going to be different to the day before and that makes it a challenging but even more rewarding job to have!

My favourite thing about public speaking particularly for children is that it allows them to find their voices at an early age. Especially in this now technological era it’s even more important to instil a confidence in young children so they can form their own ideas and opinions and realise the power that they can have
