Richard is a caring coach who is genuinely passionate about giving back the benefits that debating has given him. He debated all throughout high school where he was selected for GPS Representative Teams and was also awarded the captaincy of his school debating team.

Richard loves the way that debating strengthens a student’s confidence as well as their ability to think on their feet, a skill that is relevant in every aspect of education, especially during exams and essays.

Studying a Bachelor of Law at UTS, Richard is passionate about his studies and about broadening his knowledge of the world around him. He serves as Treasurer of the UTS Debating Society and has represented UTS at the Australian National Debating Championship. He has also made the Novice Grand Final of the Wollongong University tournament and experienced success in the international circuit, reaching the grand final of the 2021 NTU-Pro Ams Debating Championship in Singapore.

Richard currently coaches students for a range of debating competitions, such as ISDA and GPS. He prioritises fun in his classroom and believes in a practical approach to teaching. As a result, his students always have a great time and are motivated to continue debating and enjoying themselves!
