Cherie is an energetic and hands on coach, who engages with students at their level to bring out their best. She has been involved in public speaking and debating since primary school, participating in competitions such as the Premier’s Debating Challenge, the Rostrum Voice of Youth Competition and Legacy Public Speaking Competitions.

Attending MLC Burwood, Cherie continued to foster her passion for debating by competing in a range of competitions. Cherie was involved in Friday Evening Debating (FED), Archdale Debating, and Independent Schools Debating Association (ISDA) Competitions, winning the Senior B division of the latter in 2019. Not only a talented debater, Cherie also competed in the Association of Heads of Independent Girls Schools (AHIGS) Festival of Speech, where she achieved accolades including, placing first place in the Current Affairs Division in 2018. For her dedication to, and success in, the field Cherie was awarded Debating and Public Speaking Captain in her final year of school. In this role Cherie organised the Interhouse Public Speaking Competition, and initiated a workshop to help students prepare for their upcoming oral assessments and speeches.

As one of the first in the generation of coaches who were once students of Speaking Schools (Cherie attended one of our debating programs in high school), Cherie brings a unique understanding of debating and public speaking from both sides, and this insight enables her to teach students in a targeted and highly supportive manner.
