Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Commerce, Macquarie University

Amelia is a law student at Macquarie University and a member of the team which won the Australian Debating Championship in 2018.  Whilst at school, Amelia reached the finals of various public speaking and debating competitions, including the Grand Final of the SDN competition twice, and even started a regular debating club at her alma mater, Roseville College.  This success has continued since heading to university, where she won the Australian Debating Championship, reached the finals series of the Australasian Debating Championship and regularly features as a Top 10 speaker in competitions around Sydney.

Amelia also really enjoys sharing her knowledge and skills with the next generation, in particular as a coach with Roseville College, Tara Anglican School, Knox Grammar School and currently St Aloysius College.  She is additionally very proud of her excellent organisational and written communication skills, which has most recently led to her election as the President of the Macquarie University Debating Society.

What is one tip you wish someone had told you about public speaking or debating?

Try to relax when you speak in front of people, and take time to enjoy yourself and have fun in the moment.

What is your favourite thing about working with kids?

Seeing them improve!
